Fraudsters misuse senior police officer's identity to dupe unsuspecting citizens on social media
An unidentified person has created a fake Facebook account using the name of senior Punjab Police officer and Patiala Range DIG Kuldeep Singh Chahal. After learning about the matter, DIG Chahal alerted the public through his official Facebook account. He appealed to people not to trust anyone who sends a friend request, message, or any request for help or money from the fake account. DIG Kuldeep Singh Chahal wrote in a Facebook post that it had come to everyone's notice that a fake account had been created using his name and identity. He clarified that this account has no connection with him. He appealed to people that if anyone receives a friend request, message, demand for money, or any other kind of contact from this fake account, they should not trust it at all. He urged people not to share any personal or financial information.
Report the fake Facebook account immediately
The DIG appealed to all citizens to immediately report this fake Facebook account and alert their acquaintances so that any fraud or misuse of his identity could be prevented. He said that necessary legal action is being taken in this matter.
A user said: "I received a message."
After the DIG's post surfaced, many people responded to it. One user, Pooja Ghai, commented, "Yes, that's right, sir. I received a message, but I understood it was a fake ID."
