June 12 marks one year of the tragic AIR-India Plane Crash that took away 241 lives out of the 242 on board

Today marks the first anniversary of the unfortunate Air India crash that stunned the entire nation.

The London-bound Air India Flight A171 crashed shortly after it departed from the Ahmedabad airport. The plane crashed into a medical college building, taking away a total of 260 lives, 19 on the ground and 241 on board, raising nationwide concern regarding the aviation safety in India.

The flight had 242 passengers on board, and only one person survived the tragic crash, the man on seat 11A, Viswashkumar Ramesh. People across the country called this survival a miracle, and the pictures of him walking away from the crash site with blood on his clothes were seen by the entire nation.

However, Ramesh says that even after one year of the tragedy, he still has not been able to recover from it.

"People see that I've survived, but they don't always see the challenges that continue behind closed doors. A year on, I'm still trying to rebuild my life and support my family as best I can," Said Ramesh to a PTI reporter
