This green transition involves deploying 975 electric buses across major municipal corridors like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.

A stringent environmental mandate is set to reshape vehicular operations across the National Capital Region (NCR) starting this October, introducing automated enforcement to curb toxic emissions. Under the new "No PUCC, No Fuel" framework, compliance will be strictly monitored via high-tech Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras deployed across 1,041 petrol pumps.

Fundamentally, this mandatory Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) serves as an official document verifying that a vehicle’s exhaust emissions strictly align with state-approved environmental thresholds. By cutting off fuel access to non-compliant transport, authorities aim to slash overall NCR air pollution levels by 30 to 35% throughout 2026.

Reviewing these measures, Chief Secretary S P Goel directed departments to unify all monitoring activities under an integrated digital network using GPS tracking and mobile dashboards. Furthermore, transport authorities reported that intensive enforcement drives conducted since January have already resulted in over 37,000 aging vehicles being permanently deregistered.

To ensure long-term compliance, the regional administration is aggressively expanding its eco-friendly public transit infrastructure under the ongoing "Naya Safar" scheme. This green transition involves deploying 975 electric buses across major municipal corridors like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, significantly upgrading the region's current 100-bus baseline.

Ultimately, these multi-sectoral initiatives establish a tech-driven blueprint to mitigate dense urban smog and regulate industrial emissions. The deployment of 18 new continuous air monitoring stations will provide the precise real-time data grids needed to maintain environmental standards across the zone.
