Haryana ACB Chief Chawla Vows Crackdown on 140 Corrupt Officials, Honours Top Performers

Arshinder Singh Chawla, head of the Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), held an important review meeting on Wednesday at the Bureau headquarters in Panchkula with Superintendents of Police, officers, and staff from all ranges. The meeting reviewed the progress of the anti-corruption campaigns underway and set future strategy, with detailed discussions on effective action in corruption cases, the use of modern technology, strengthening complainants' trust, the performance of various ranges, and increasing public participation.

Chairing the meeting, Shri Chawla stated that the Bureau has identified and prepared a list of 140 officials and employees across the state against whom repeated complaints have been received that they do not carry out government work without taking bribes. He clarified that the list has been prepared in a completely fair and transparent manner. He said that if officials in any range have information about other such corrupt officials and employees, they should update the list and send it to headquarters within a week, so that the campaign against corruption can be made even more effective. Shri Chawla said the Bureau's objective is not merely to catch bribe-takers, but also to strengthen a culture of honesty, transparency, and accountability throughout the government machinery. He said every official and employee must work toward this goal with complete dedication, honesty, and sensitivity.

Reviewing the Bureau's achievements, the meeting noted that from January 2022 to June 2026, the Bureau has conducted a total of 92 traps/raids. In these operations, numerous corrupt officials and employees were arrested red-handed while taking bribes. Shri Chawla said that every successful trap increases ordinary citizens' faith in the law and sends the message that no one who engages in corruption can escape the law.

The Bureau chief said that corrupt officials and employees hollow out the government system from within, like termites. Because of such people, ordinary citizens' trust in the government and administration weakens. He gave clear instructions to officials that while taking action, no consideration should be given to an accused person's position, rank, influence, or social identity. Shri Chawla said the government has a clear stance that those who engage in corruption should have fear of the law in their minds.

To boost officials' morale, Shri Chawla announced that officers who arrest an accused red-handed while taking a bribe of ₹2 lakh or more will be honoured with a 'Class-1 Certificate'. He said that officials and employees with outstanding performance will continue to be honoured in the future as well, so that the entire team works with greater enthusiasm and dedication.

Shri Chawla instructed all range officials to widely publicise the Anti-Corruption Bureau's toll-free numbers — 1800-180-2022 and 1064 — as well as the complaint helpline and the procedure for filing complaints. He instructed all range officials to maintain better coordination with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police in their respective districts, since they regularly receive numerous corruption-related complaints.

During the meeting, officials and employees who did notable work against corruption were honoured with gold and silver medals. Gold medals were given to officials and employees who carried out 10 or more successful traps/raids in the first six months of 2026, delivering outstanding performance. Those honoured include CDC/Inspector Jagjit (1241/SPT), SV&ACB Bhiwani; ASI Reenu (1581/SPT); Head Constable Naveen Kumar (2034/RTK); E/ASI Sukhwinder (54/NNL); and E/Head Constable Dinesh (2002/SPT). Similarly, silver medals were given to officials and employees who successfully carried out more than 5 successful traps/raids in the first six months of 2026. Those honoured include Inspector Zakir Hussain (SV&ACB Narnaul), ASI Naveen (882/FBD), ASI Jitender (619/GGM), E/Head Constable Ejaz (4/354 HAP), and Constable Sachin (3239/FBD).

At the end of the meeting, Shri Chawla said that the fight against corruption is not merely a legal campaign, but a campaign to win the trust of the people.
