Sirsa records highest temperature at 37°C as rainfall deficit pushes up day and night heat
Several districts of Haryana recorded light drizzle and patchy rainfall on Saturday, but this did little to strengthen the weakened monsoon. Rain was recorded in Karnal, Jhajjar, Hisar, Fatehabad, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and parts of the NCR, while most of the state continued to experience humid heat throughout the day. According to weather experts, the weather pattern could change from August 3, with the monsoon likely to become active again in Haryana, NCR and Delhi between August 3 and 8.
Due to the rainfall deficit, day and night temperatures in the state have been steadily rising. The humid heat has been troubling the general public, while farmers are increasingly worried about moisture deficiency in kharif crops.
On Sunday, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Sirsa at 37 degrees Celsius. Hisar recorded a maximum of 36.5 degrees and a minimum of 27.5 degrees Celsius. Weather expert Dr. Chandramohan said that while several parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan are witnessing flood-like conditions, Haryana's western districts continue to face drought-like conditions. The weather system that formed over the Bay of Bengal in recent days largely affected only the northern and eastern districts of Haryana, while the western parts continue to face a rainfall deficit.
A new western disturbance is expected to become active over northwest India from August 3. Along with this, a new low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal, and a cyclonic circulation is expected to develop around northern Rajasthan and southern Punjab. Under the influence of these weather systems, the monsoon trough will shift back towards Haryana. Light to moderate rainfall, with heavy rain at several places, is expected across the state, NCR and Delhi between August 3 and 8.
Rainfall across the country during the second half of the monsoon is projected to be below 94 percent of the long-period average (LPA). Additionally, maximum temperatures are likely to remain above normal in most parts during August.
