Steep Increase in Toll Collection and Collector Rates Burdens the Public — Rao Narender Singh

Chandigarh, 2 April 2026: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Rao Narender Singh has expressed deep concern over the continuous and excessive increase in toll collection and collector rates across the state. He stated that due to the government’s policies, the economic burden on the common people is steadily rising, making life increasingly difficult for them.

Rao Narender Singh alleged that arbitrary toll collection is being carried out at toll plazas, and repeated hikes in collector rates are directly impacting the pockets of ordinary citizens. He said that at a time when people are already struggling with high inflation, such decisions are akin to “adding insult to injury.”

He further stated that the entire system of the government appears to be engulfed in corruption. Reports of scams are emerging from various parts of the state, with allegations of embezzlement of crores of rupees. On one hand, the hard-earned money of the people is being lost to corruption, while on the other hand, increased toll taxes and collector rates are placing an additional financial burden on them.

The Congress state president said that it is the responsibility of the government to provide relief to the public, but instead, new financial burdens are continuously being imposed. He demanded a comprehensive review of toll collection and the immediate rollback of the increased collector rates.

He warned that if the government does not take prompt and concrete action on this issue, the Congress party will be compelled to take to the streets and launch an agitation in the interest of the people.

Rao Narender Singh reiterated that the Congress party has always been committed to safeguarding the interests of the common people and will continue its struggle in the future.
