Command Hospital takes initiative to spread Heart Health Awareness
Chandigarh,28 March 2026: In collaboration with eminent cardiologists of the Tricity, Command Hospital Chandimandir, under the aegis of HQ Western Command organized a Cardiology Colloquium themed “Every Beat Counts” on 27 Mar 2026.
With an endeavor to promote awareness among troops and their families the hospital conducted a series of lectures, as a precursor to the colloquium, on healthy heart and importance of balanced diet. These lectures featured interactive sessions between the audience and experts, wherein various myths and beliefs were busted.

In his opening address, while welcoming the participating faculty, Maj Gen Harkirat Singh, Commandant Comd Hosp (WC), voiced concern regarding an alarming rise in cardiac ailments among the younger population and advocated greater awareness and preventive measures targeted specifically the youth.
A distinguished gathering of cardiologists from the Tricity including Prof YP Sharma, Prof Rajesh Vijayvergiya, Prof Rohit Manoj, Prof Ajay Bahl, Surgeon Vice Admiral Rajat Datta (Retd), Maj Gen Naveen Aggarwal (Retd), Brig Navreet Singh VSM, Dr Parag Barwad, Dr Himanshu Gupta, Dr Devendra Bisht and Dr Sudhanshu marked a significant milestone in advancing cardiovascular care by deliberating on heart health, preventive strategies and latest innovations in cardiac interventions.
Eminent specialists from PGIMER Chandigarh and other service hospitals shared their insights on the growing burden of cardiac diseases and emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. Senior cardiologists highlighted the rampant emergence of cardiovascular diseases as the leading cause of mortality in India and the critical role of early diagnosis and immediate management of heart diseases .
Major focus of the conference was on treatment modalities of heart failure, structural heart interventions, cardiomyopathies, imaging during coronary interventions, physiological pacing and also heart diseases in high altitude areas.
In addition the audience was enlightened with cutting edge advancements in minimally invasive procedures like transcatheter valve replacements and complex angioplasties that help save lives with timely implementation.
Understanding the significance of advancements in the field, the faculty members exhorted all healthcare professionals present for a collective call to strengthen preventive cardiology and integrate modern technology with clinical expertise to ensure better cardiovascular health and outcomes for all.
