The operation was reportedly coordinated by a handler operating from abroad, with logistical support provided by local operatives.

Chandigarh Grenade Blast Case Latest News Today: In a major breakthrough, police have arrested five individuals in connection with the grenade attack outside the BJP office in Chandigarh, with investigators pointing to a coordinated operation allegedly backed by Pakistan’s intelligence network.

Senior officials, including Gaurav Yadav and Sagar Preet Hooda, confirmed that preliminary findings indicate the involvement of an ISI-linked module operating under instructions from handlers based in Europe.

The arrests came within days of the April 1 explosion that had sparked panic in the city. Along with the suspects, police recovered a live hand grenade, a foreign-made pistol and several cartridges, highlighting the seriousness of the plot.

According to investigators, the accused were part of a structured network that facilitated the movement of explosives and weapons through multiple intermediaries before reaching those tasked with carrying out the attack. The operation was reportedly coordinated by a handler operating from abroad, with logistical support provided by local operatives.

Authorities have identified two key suspects who are still on the run, and search operations are ongoing to trace them. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of arms and criminal law, and agencies are working to map the entire network, including its funding and supply chain.

The incident had triggered sharp political reactions across Punjab and Chandigarh, with parties trading accusations over law and order concerns. The attack also came amid a series of violent incidents in the city, raising questions about security in the Union Territory.

Officials said the swift arrests underline effective coordination between multiple agencies in tackling organised and cross-border threats. Further investigations are expected to reveal more details about the network and its wider links.
