India's Exports Surge 11.37%; Hits USD 232 Billion in Q1 Amid Global Demand

The Ministry also reported that total imports, combining both merchandise and services, for June reached 88.76 billion US dollars.

India’s trade sector has demonstrated strong resilience, with total exports during the April to June quarter estimated at over 232 billion US dollars. This performance marks a positive growth of 11.37 percent compared to the same period last year, signaling a robust start to the fiscal year for the nation's manufacturing and shipping industries.


In the month of June alone, total exports reached an estimated 73.45 billion US dollars, reflecting a 9.48 percent growth over the previous year. According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry, this consistent upward trend underscores the growing global demand for high-value Indian commodities and finished goods across diverse international markets.

The primary drivers of this export expansion in June included engineering goods, gems and jewellery, organic and inorganic chemicals, rice, and electronic goods. Notably, the export of electronic goods surged by approximately 19 percent, rising from 4.14 billion US dollars in June last year to 4.93 billion US dollars this June, highlighting India's expanding role in global technology supply chains.


The Ministry also reported that total imports, combining both merchandise and services, for June reached 88.76 billion US dollars. This figure represents a growth of over 26 percent compared to June of the previous year, reflecting increased domestic demand and industrial activity.


As the country continues to navigate evolving global economic conditions, these trade figures provide a clear indication of India's strengthening position as a vital hub for international commerce and industrial production.
