BJP leader Ajit Kumar Singh filed the complaint in 2012 over Digvijaya Singh's remarks on Ramdev's Ramlila Maidan eviction.
Digvijaya Singh, a senior Congress leader and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, was cleared by a court in the Vaishali district of Bihar on Thursday in a 14-year-old defamation case involving his alleged comments against Baba Ramdev. Following the case's last hearing, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Abhimanyu Kumar issued the verdict, according to officials.
Yuvraj Sunil Singh, the former chief minister's attorney, claims that the Congressman participated in the sessions via video conference. Then-BJP leader Ajit Kumar Singh of Hajipur filed the complaint in 2012 under Section 504 of the Indian Penal Code, claiming that Digvijaya Singh had made offensive comments about Baba Ramdev.
Following Baba Ramdev's midnight eviction by Delhi Police from his anti-corruption hunger strike location at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, Singh, the AICC's general secretary at the time, made the comments. According to the attorney, Digvijaya Singh personally appeared before the Hajipur Civil Court almost 12 years ago to make a statement on the case while he was a member of parliament.
