The Bihar government has implemented a significant administrative reform regarding the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate, ensuring its validity for a full twelve months from the date of issue. This decision eliminates the previous fiscal-year-based expiration, providing much-needed relief to state job seekers and students.

Previously, EWS certificates were only valid until March 31st of the current financial year. This system frequently forced candidates to undergo the cumbersome renewal process annually, even if their certificate was only a few months old, creating unnecessary bureaucratic delays during crucial application periods.

By transitioning to a fixed one-year validity period, the government has removed the requirement for repeated renewals. This change directly benefits thousands of candidates preparing for competitive exams, as they no longer face the risk of their documents becoming invalid mid-process due to the ending of a financial year.

The General Administration Department has officially issued instructions to all state-run recruitment bodies, including the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), to ensure full compliance with this new rule. All agencies must now accept EWS certificates for 12 months from the date they were issued, regardless of the fiscal calendar.

This update simplifies the document verification process significantly. Aspirants can now focus on their studies and applications without the recurring stress of administrative paperwork or potential disqualification over certificate expiry issues.
