CM Samrat Choudhary joins MLAs for special AI orientation session, launches new digital portal for Area Development Scheme monitoring

Patna: The Bihar Legislature turned into a classroom of sorts on Wednesday, as MLAs gathered at the Extension Building for a special training session on Artificial Intelligence and digital technology.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary led from the front, joining Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, the Chairman of the Legislative Council, several cabinet ministers and a sizeable turnout of legislators for the orientation programme. The initiative was designed to familiarise lawmakers with AI, digital governance tools and modern technology, equipping them to put these to better use in their legislative duties and public outreach.

The highlight of the day came when CM Choudhary inaugurated a new digital portal for the Chief Minister's Area Development Scheme. The platform is expected to bring greater efficiency to how scheme-related works are tracked, approved and monitored, while boosting transparency across the board.

Officials say the move will not only speed up execution of development projects but also give MLAs real-time access to updates on works in their constituencies.

Speaking at the event, Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar noted that the session would equip elected representatives with a clearer understanding of where AI and digital technology are headed, how they can be applied, and the ethical questions that come along with them.

The training also covered broader ground, with experts walking legislators through AI-driven governance tools, data protection, cybersecurity threats and best practices for responsible tech adoption.

Government officials believe the push toward digital tools will make the administrative machinery more transparent and accountable going forward. The programme is being viewed as a significant marker in Bihar's broader push toward tech-driven governance.
