Two coaches of the Samastipur-Saharsa MEMU train caught fire on Monday morning at the Simri Bakhtiyarpur station in the Saharsa district of Bihar, according to officials. However, there were no recorded casualties.

Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) for East Central Railway (ECR), told PTI, "As 63344 Samastipur-Saharsa MEMU arrived at Simri Bakhtiyarpur station around 3 am, the station master reported a fire in the motor coach of the train.  Another coach was shortly affected by the fire. Fire tenders were dispatched because fire extinguishers were unable to contain the flames. The overhead equipment (OHE) was turned off, and all passengers were safely disembarked. At 5.50 am, the fire was finally put out. There were no recorded casualties," he continued. An inquiry has been ordered to find out the reason behind the incident, he said, adding that train services on the route were disrupted for two hours.
