Google Removes 48.37 Crore Ads in India, Blocks 8.3 Billion Globally in 2025 AI Crackdown
Google has reported large-scale action against policy-violating advertisements in 2025, with India accounting for 48.37 crore ads removed during the year. The figures were shared as part of its annual Ads Safety Report, which highlights enforcement trends across markets.
The company said it also suspended 1.7 million advertiser accounts in India, targeting entities involved in repeated or serious violations. Common issues included misuse of trademarks, financial services-related violations, copyright concerns and abuse of advertising networks.
At the global level, Google removed over 8.3 billion advertisements and blocked 24.9 million advertiser accounts. It noted that more than 99 percent of these ads were stopped before users could view them, indicating a focus on early detection.
A key factor behind this shift has been the integration of its artificial intelligence model, Gemini. According to the company, the system enables faster identification of suspicious patterns by analysing multiple signals such as account behaviour, campaign activity and historical data.
Google said this approach represents a move beyond traditional keyword-based checks, allowing its systems to better assess intent and detect harmful content at scale.
The company also pointed to the increasing use of generative AI by malicious entities to produce misleading advertisements, adding that its safety teams are working continuously to counter such threats through improved automated tools and monitoring systems.
