The report further highlights that over 68 billion spam and fraudulent calls were detected worldwide in 2025.
India continues to be among the most affected countries globally by unwanted phone communication, ranking fifth in a recent analysis of spam call trends. The findings are based on anonymised and aggregated user data from the caller identification platform Truecaller, which tracks large-scale calling behaviour across multiple regions.
The data shows that spam calling is not limited to one category but is driven by multiple sources. In India, sales and telemarketing calls form the largest share at 36 percent, followed by financial service-related calls at 18 percent. Fraud-linked calls account for 12 percent of the total spam activity.
Globally, the pattern is even more widespread. Countries such as Indonesia, Chile, Vietnam, and Brazil have been ranked ahead of India, with Indonesia recorded as the most affected. The report further highlights that over 68 billion spam and fraudulent calls were detected worldwide in 2025, while India recorded a 66 percent intensity level of spam-related activity and placed fifth in the global ranking.
The report highlights how unsolicited communication remains a persistent issue despite the use of filtering tools and increased awareness among users. It also reflects how both commercial promotion and fraudulent attempts continue to drive the majority of unwanted calls across mobile networks.
Overall, the analysis points to a growing global challenge in controlling spam communication, with India remaining a significant hotspot in this ecosystem.
