Malhotra Postpones Friday Teaser to Announce Sony Pictures Collaboration

Prime Focus Studios revealed that Namit Malhotra's "Ramayana"—a film adaptation of one of India's most well-known epics—will be distributed internationally outside of India by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Malhotra, the CEO of DNEG, a visual effects studio that has won eight Academy Awards, is producing the action-adventure story. Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman composed the soundtrack for the critically praised film "Ramayana," which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi.

"Ramayana" has inspired people via its timeless humanity and enduring principles," stated Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus Studios. Our goal has always been to respect that tradition while producing a cinematic experience that viewers everywhere can enjoy. We have spent decades assisting filmmakers in realizing some of the most ambitious cinematic projects in the world through DNEG. We are now applying that same dedication to storytelling to one of the greatest epics in history with Prime Focus Studios," he said in a release. Working with Sony Pictures offers 'Ramayana' a fantastic chance to engage with global audiences and present this classic tale to moviegoers everywhere," he continued.

Malhotra stated on Instagram that they wanted to announce their collaboration with SPE, so they decided to postpone the movie's Friday teaser presentation until a later time. "Ramayana" will be released "like any major global Hollywood film" thanks to their new partnership, according to Malhotra. This is unique because it allows people from all around the world to learn about the depth of our culture and our tales with a renewed sense of pride and excitement," he stated. The movie will be released in two parts, the first of which is scheduled to hit theaters on Diwali in 2026. Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, and Arun Govil are among the other actors in the film.
