Haryana announces hike in monthly stipend to widows, destitute

Chandigarh: The Haryana government today announced to increase the monthly stipend of widows, and destitute women and girls imparting training in tailoring by Rs 500.

The hike will be for beneficiaries from the schedule castes and backward classes and will be in effect from May 16, an official spokesman said here. To purchase raw materials each trainee will get Rs 300 per month instead of Rs 150 during the training period, he said.

Widows or destitute women and girls belonging to scheduled castes and backward classes, whose annual family income does not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh, can avail benefits under the scheme, he said. Each beneficiary will have to submit an income certificate issued by the revenue official, sarpanch or municipal councillor concerned to avail benefit under the scheme, the spokesman said. PTI
